Massage school coming to an end...

It's kind of a bittersweet moment thinking back on how much I have done and how far I have come. I have one more day of clinic and one more final to take before I am officially graduated from my massage program. After that I have my big state exam on the 15th. Once I pass that then it is a sit and wait for my license to come back from WA. I have just signed up for the certification course enabling me to practice on animals. So, I will get that done in the next couple of months. It seems like it has taken forever but also like it has gone by so fast. Our class at school has really grown into a family. Meeting many good friends and a few that will become friends for a lifetime. It seems like only yesterday we were in that first class of Swedish Massage on our first day of school.
The one class I am going to miss the most right now is Cancer clinic. It has been an amazing journey and experience. This internship has shown me the amazing things we do as massage therapists and how we can not only heal someone but lighten someone's day by just sitting and listening. I hope I don't fall apart on Monday when I have to say goodbye to patient's that I have seen over the last 10 weeks. They have shown me so much.
In the next few months you will see a revamp of my website as I shut down my handling section and start up my massage website. I am excited for the new beginning and glad that I am able to do what I love to do, day in and day out.

Eukanuba here we come!!! and more...

Yup, I get to go. Until about 3 days ago, I thought I wasn't going to get to go. I love Eukanuba. It is so much fun, even if you don't do much winning. The World Challenge is by far my favorite, although I do have to say that the Breed booths take a very close second. It is all about making a statement, showing off your best, and having fun while you are at it. Taking home a prize, is just an honor.

On other news...as many of you saw on Carolyn's blog, I just brought Nola home from being bred to Pilot. Very excited about the litter! I always hit myself (well figuratively) when I see Pilot...why oh why did I not take him home at the puppy party...:-)

Was briefly at the Salem show on Saturday...showed Vogue for another BOB win. Then did the Pap fun match with Walker and Miley. Next weekend we have Monroe, praying for a warm weekend!!

Way too much going on...

Yup...haven't hardly blogged lately as I have just been too busy. But, thought I would give some public updates...

Here are two pics of the latest Brayden puppies. The mother is Rhiannon's Intelligent Design. They are in Ohio.

Vogue is at my house right now. She is pictured below with her Group 3 picture from this summer. Hopefully all goes well and we will have Vogue puppies in early January!

Yes, Diesel is flying back to NY on Saturday to Karen's house. He has one point to finish, but Karen decided she wanted to put that last point on! He may be coming back next spring for some breedings, but plans have not been finalized yet.

And...Nola is off to an adventure down south. Hopefully, praying, that Nola puppies will be coming in January. Everyone think good thoughts!!

Ramblings for Wed...

The simple things in life are the one's to remember. Wednesday seems to be the day where I do a lot of thinking. How ironic, huh? This picture above seemed appropriate for today (of course a Michael photo). Enjoying the simple beauty through the fog...seeing the end of a long journey is hard and challenging...yet knowing there is a new one on the horizon is even more important. A lot of new things are coming to my horizon, a lot of things I am really excited about. Although today I was reminded of some not so distant past that still haunts me, but I move on and show the world the beauty of the small things. The simple things like getting a hug from Evan, Chai learning a new trick, playing with the cutest puppy in the world (Bamboo), or a phone call from Michael. All these things are what makes up me, things that I dwell on and look to the future with. So, that is my ramblings on things today.
And now, off my soap box and back to some updates...

Here is a beautiful picture of Denali's BOB win at our Supported Entry at OKC in Enumclaw this summer. Denali is out of my beloved Haze and my best bud Brayden. He is sure maturing to be a nice boy!

For those of you who sent Gaelic names...I ended up with Meckenzie, which means the daughter of the wise leader. Perfect match for a Brayden daughter! She will be joining my crew in early October!

Well...I better get back to packing for Richland. Feels a little odd not having any cardigans being shown, but I can't wait to judge sweeps! It will be fun!! Glad to see the weather is going to be beautiful this weekend. Safe travels to those going!

Otterhound National

Well, I made it back from soggy Cape Cod. What a treat to judge the Otterhound National Sweepstakes! I had a beautiful entry and despite the rain, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. If anyone has never seen an Otterhound or want to see pictures, the 2009 national website is at http://ohca2009nationalspecialty.wikispaces.com/ They only have pictures up from Thursday right now, but I am sure they will be adding more soon!

I was invited to the dinner on Saturday evening and it was some of the best banquet food I have had! We were at an amazing Italian restaurant. The festivities are always fun and entertaining at the Otterhound National. I am always amazed how high the bids go in the live auction!

Most importantly my flights were on time with no travel issues for once. Phew.

A big thank you to the committee members who put the national on and inviting me to judge, it was an honor.

News from Pawcific...

It's been an extremely hard week for me with Ash passing, but I am holding up. Today was my last final for school, so now I have a week off! Yipee!! Maybe some of my housework will get done and paperwork caught back up on. Anyways, onto the good news...below is a new BC puppy that will be coming to live at my house soon! I am very excited. Isn't she cute!! :-)
On other news...all fingers, toes crossed for two successful breedings. I have one girl in for breeding and another is my own, so I am really hopeful I will be having puppies in November. Although it is a little difficult breeding two girls to the same dog at the same time. Anyone want to come over and help with breedings this weekend while I am gone? :-) Yes, I am off to Cape Cod this weekend to judge the Otterhound National Sweepstakes! (Yipee!!) Well, must go get Evan from school! He started kindergarten this week, can you believe it?

Ramblings for Wed...

(I mean ramblings...so bare with me on the jumping around thing)

This fall...I have the pleasure of doing some judging on the side. I love judging, if you didn't already know and will soon be hanging up my handler lead and putting in my application. It is an honor to be asked to do sweepstakes assignments. I have done many already, but this year I have a couple of exciting ones like the Otterhound National Sweepstakes and the BCSA National Futurity.

Tomorrow I leave for Grass Valley, CA. I am judging the Nor Cal BC specialty Sweepstakes and I am so excited! At the specialty, I am also presenting the BC judges education seminar. This is my first time doing it on my own, so it shall be fun!

For those who were wondering...my thumb is healing. It will be a while before it is totally better but at least able to use it again (with band aids and padding of course!).

This past Monday I brought home another Cardigan girl. It looks like she may be staying. I will tell more later but her sire is one of the top winning dogs right now!

A BC puppy will also be joining the crew soon! I just have to decide which one I am taking!!

Today Chai went to obedience class. He is doing really well and much prefers that to silly conformation. I am going to continue his training in obedience, since he really can't go to any of the upcoming specialties. When he is more mature, I will take him out and finish him quickly. I love my gold boy!

That's it for the moment...you all have a good weekend!!

Skywatch Friday

I don't usually participate in the Skywatch thing...but Michael sent me this photo that he took this past Sunday at Mt Rainer. It deserved a posting I thought...

Hot, hot, hot!!!

I am about done with this heat wave...100+ weather is not heard of in the Northwest...most of us don't have air conditioning, so it makes it even worse! My house hasn't gone below 80 for the last two nights and tomorrow again we are expecting 100 degree weather. Our outside temp at my parents today was at a high of 104! Dogs are all on fans and seem to be fine...Mom's rabbits are another story though...try keeping a whole rabbitry cool!!! A little difficult! So...bring on the weather Gods...go away HOT weather...come back NORTHWEST typical weather...repeat again and again...

Updates...anything and everything inbetween!

Since I seem to need to update on several things and couldn't be bothered to try and separate everything...I just decided to do it in all one post!
First off...as some of you may know my computer crashed pretty badly about a month ago. In the process I lost a lot of my website information. I am working on recreating things, which is a long and tiring endeavor. Since I am doing it anyways, I am reconstructing most of it and changing some things. So, anyone who is interested can go to www.pawcific.com and watch for the updates to come in the next few weeks!
This is an updated photo from Juanita in Columbia of Pawcific Midnight Moon. "Kisha" is a littermate to BISS Ch Pawcific Dream Date, owned by Bonnie Harris, Jennifer & Kathy Fish. I co-bred the litter and am pleased with how the siblings all turned out.
Sorry, but needed to include a couple picture, since Michael seems to take most of the pictures, its rare to get him in one! This is us down at the Columbia River outside of Beaches.

Here is an updated running shot of Tanner. Thanks to Karen! Tanner is Della's brother. He is the pick in that litter and I can't wait to see how he grows up!

Pictured above and below is Pawcific Morning Latte. "Windy" is the littermate to "Chai" which you all may remember as he is my gold puppy. Windy has been with her co-owners Ardell and Ken Parkin since she was 8 weeks old. Since Jenny co-bred the litter with me, she is the co-owner of Windy and will show her. We took her to Utah and then Jenny took her onto Spokane/Idaho cluster. She won several Reserves to majors and really did well for her first time out. Windy will probably be shown again sometime later this summer.

And since I am updating everyone...did I mention that Diesel won 2 more points in Idaho this past weekend, he is really close to finishing, although need to find a second major, and Secret came home from the cluster with a BOB and a BOS. On the BC realm...Congrats to Ardell and Ken on Gracie's BOB wins in Spokane and to Splash who won BOB both days in Idaho!
And other news...yes I have a lot of news...in late June I am going back to school. Yeah, sigh, I am working on breaking away from having to handle dogs professionally. Even though I love handling, I would much rather judge and do things with my own dogs. So, I am going to school to become a Massage Therapist, so that I can eventually work on people and animals with my Body Talk work and energy work like my therapists use on me and my dogs. Here is one of our therapists website, which can explain some of the work I will be doing eventually. Full Spectrum Canine Therapy Patricia Maria Kortekaas
That is all the updating for now...must go and pack for Yakima! Anyone going and want to help out...I am showing 9 by myself this weekend! EEK!

Hip Hip Hooray!

I did Lincoln's hips a couple of weeks ago. I didn't want to jinx them, but I thought they looked great! Well...in the mail today is the verdict from OFA...and drum roll please...Hips Prelim EXCELLENT!!!! I think this is my first Excellent that I have bred, so I am very excited. Lincoln is otherwise known as Pawcific Signed Sealed Delivered.

Multnomah Falls

This past Monday, Michael came down and took me to Multnomah Falls for my birthday. In all the years I have been to the Falls, I never had the chance to climb to the top, so we did! It was a lot of fun, although came home after lunch and crashed, as I was a bit out of shape. Did I mention that one of Michael's hobbies is photography? He is working on a website and will post it as soon as it is up and running for all to enjoy. In the meantime, here is a few shots he took from our hike! ~Emily

The good, bad, and ugly

I haven't had much a chance to blog lately. Partly due to the fact that my extra time has been spent with a certain someone (yes I have a boyfriend again). Other partly because I haven't had much going on with dogs lately other then training and getting ready for the big Chintimini show. Wow, 40 Cardigans, still can't believe that one. And the other issue is my computer, which is definitely having issues and is currently not here. So, on my parents laptop, which they kindly let me borrow!

Many might ask why I named this post the good, bad, and ugly. Well, going through some difficult times right now. Support from all would be good. Not something I really care to explain other then the fact that I love dogs too much sometimes it seems. My path in life seems to be changing or entering a new channel...so trying to let it happen and work itself out. I love the body talk work I am doing. I have been able to heal myself from simple injuries, taken away headaches, and most importantly transfering it all to my dogs and solving some of the ongoing household dynamics. If anyone would like me to help out, let me know as I love to practice my current skills! Evan's birthday is next Monday, can't believe he will be 5 already! Thank you to all of the pet owners who have written me lately with updates! I love hearing how my grandkids are doing.

That's enough rambling right now. Peace to all in blogland!

A little bit of everything...

Since I didn't have much time today...I thought I would just upload some things in one post, instead of splitting them up. Here is my little bit of everything post!!
This is Walker...he is a Papillon puppy I am growing up for a local breeder. Yes, he is a phalene, and a very nice one at that! He is almost 6 months old and will be in the ring soon.
Just a little bit of spring outside my front door!

One more shot of spring!

Trophies for Chintimini KC...Wow 40 Cardigans entered!!!

Evan playing on my piano one night this week. He just loves to show off the piano!

Another snow day...what??

You have got to be kidding...another snow day???? Evan's school was cancelled. And I just got back from driving to Wilsonville Vet...took me an hour and 45 minutes to get there!!! Now I have to go back this afternoon, hopefully things will have melted by then. For those who don't live in the PNW, people don't know 1. how to drive out here 2. the transportation people don't know how to get the roads safe!

Off topic...

I know this is not really on topic...but...my van is for sale. If anyone knows of any dog show person looking for a big van, it is a great one! 2000 Chevy Express 3500 series diesel. It is in great shape, although high miles, but thought that if anyone knew of someone looking, email me and I can forward on the full details!
