Updates here at Pawcific!

Last week we made a point to have a family photo session of dogs that we needed updated pictures of. It was a nice day, although cold and windy! I am hoping that I can get some more pictures of my crew in the near future but we are in the middle of another rainy spell, so it will have to wait until things clear up again!

First off is Fraser, my sable male. I can't believe he will be two in May already. He is a stunning boy, just needs more time to fill out and mature. Sadly, I am offering him up for sale as my breeding program in Cardigans is coming to an end for the time being. I love breeding the Cardigans but need a break from it to concentrate on other things in life. I have more information about him on my website, but if you would like to inquire about him, please email me at emluv2sing @ aol . com (without spaces).

Might I add that his black overlay is coming back now with his mature coat. He is going through a huge shed right now and is totally ungroomed in these photos. I wanted him to look as naturally himself as possible!

Next updated shots is of Pocahontas or Poca (for short). She is 11 weeks in these photos. As with any photos of her, she is very quick to do other things so it is extremely hard to get her to stay still!

Next update is Nola...she has just been spayed, so no more puppies for her. Instead she gets to go to a great retirement home in Portland. Before she left, I decided I better get an updated shot of her, even though she hardly has any coat (after puppies mothers shed out their coat completely, it's the most bald they will ever be!). Here it is!

Then we move to the Border Collies. First off is Dasher, the handsome Kahnel x Lucy son we kept from that exciting litter. He has been shown as a puppy a few times (with some prestigious wins to his credit already!), but Jenny has been concentrating on more performance training while he matures. He has two legs towards his Rally Novice title, only needs one more to earn that title. Then he also has his STDs title in ASCA herding. More herding titles will be coming soon! He is an amazing herding dog with tons of potential, lots of power and eye with the finesse his mother Lucy has. I am very proud to have bred and own him with Jenny (my sister) and Kathy (my mom). He turned two this winter and he now has all of his health clearances.

Next Border Collie is Dazzle! She is the Sparky/Dolly puppy I kept from that litter. She just turned two as well and after passing her health clearances we look forward to breeding her this Spring/Summer. After her litter, she will then get back to intense training in herding and back in the ring to finish her Championship.

Finally, you cannot forget about my wonderful phalene, Walker. Walker has been on vacation with Mary Jo Loye for the past few months. She kindly offered to show him in her area for us and finished his CH in 8 shows! He is now CH La Ren Moon Walker. Thank you to his breeder/co-owner Janis McLaren for trusting me with this special boy. He is back home and being totally spoiled. He will be making a few appearances in the ring locally and we get to watch his first litter of puppies grow up!

First herding trial...

Jenny and I braved the cold Thanksgiving weekend and competed in our first herding trial. It was a local ASCA trial and we only entered Lucy and Dasher in Started sheep. We came out with some brilliant moments as I like to call them and some not so brilliant moments. Good news is that both dogs qualified enough times to earn their first title in ASCA the STDs! So Lucy is now CH Pawcific Dream Date STDs (handled by me!!) and Dasher is now Pawcific I've Got A Date with a Dream STDs (handled by Jenny).
This weekend we are off to a duck clinic to learn more about ducks. Should be fun!

Results - Roseburg Weekend

Every now and again there is a show with a win that you cherish forever. In Roseburg I had one of those wins...my 7 month old Border Collie puppy Molly, Pawcific Cover Girl at Jollypaws not only did us well with picking up 3 more singles and winning the herding group brace with her mother, but also wowed us by winning Best Bred by in Show! This is the second time I have had the honor of winning Bred by in Show, the first time was with my Cardigan Lincoln. That kind of recognition amongst other long time breeders means more to me then most wins especially with such a young puppy competing with a lot of older dogs in Bred by. Thank you to my friends who stayed to cheer us on and other friends who went out and celebrated that evening!

Other wins from the weekend:
Vogue 2 BOB's and 2 BOS's
Dazzle WB, 1 pt
Secret 2 Select's
And across the country Walker won WD 3 days picking up 7 pts with one major! Thanks to his handler Mary Jo!

And even better:
Many of my handling students had great wins picking up points, Selects, Best Juniors, and much more! Go students!!

I love his head in this one.

He did such a good job with such a hard set of ducks!

Some pictures from Nationals...

Sparky and Dawna with his Herding wins! He received his HIAs at nationals and a few weekends after completed his HIAd. Now onto Advanced!!

Armani on the move. Such a pretty puppy for just a 6 month old. He is Toby/Vogue.

The family shot of the Sparky/Becca litter! I thought this shot was too cute with Mom, Dad, and all the puppies.

Windy on the move in the Parade of Title Holders. She sure is a pretty girl. She is Brayden/Roo.

Armani getting a bath. This was a candid that was shot and I just loved it as it really shows Armani's gorgeous head. I love this boy!

Dazzle on the move. Poor girl, she was completely hairless at the nationals. She is home now and I am training her in herding.

Border Collie Nationals 2011 - Way Out West

After some much needed rest, I think I can finally report on all our winnings of the 2011 BCSA National! So hear it goes...

As many of you know I was co-chair of the entire event. This is not an easy task to take on, especially being the first West coast national for Border Collies. Our committee spent 3 years plus planning for the 9 days jam packed full of events at nationals! All in all everything went smoothly. We sure had a lot of positive comments, which makes those countless hours and devotion to putting on the national much more worth it. Our volunteer shirts had a slogan on the back, "Best in the West Butt Kicking Border Collie Crew" and I sure thought this summed up our committee members!

Onto the results...

Herding - Sparky (Ch Red Ryder at Real Pearl HSAsd, etc.) won a 2nd and a 3rd in Intermediate A Course Sheep, completing his Int title! He also won a 2nd in Ducks and now needs one more Q for that title. Dawna took him to some great runs on tough stock! I was very proud of both of them!!
Unfortunately, none of our other dogs had a chance to prove themselves in herding, so we will look forward to the next local herding trial!

Agility - My grandpup Denali I heard did well in agility at nationals with several Q's. Kelly is sure doing an awesome job with this special boy!

Conformation - Jointly Pawcific South and North had some great wins this year. It's easier just to make a list. :-)

1st place in 6-9 puppy dog for Armani (Jollypaws Sharp Dressed Man)
1st place in 6-9 puppy bitch and BEST OPP IN PUPPY SWEEPS for Molly (Pawcific Cover Girl at Jollypaws)
Veteran Sweepstakes
1st place and BEST VETERAN IN SWEEPS for Morgan (GrCH Wildair Blazing To Morgan)
Regular Classes
1st place in 6-9 puppy dog for Armani
1st place in 6-9 puppy bitch for Molly
The puppies jointly won the Brace class. The only entry but they sure did look great together!
4th in Bred by bitch for Sacred (Pawcific Not On the First Date)
3rd in Am Bred for Dazzle (Pawcific I've Been Dazzled)
1st in Veteran bitch and BEST VETERAN for Morgan
3rd in Herding Titled Dog for Sparky (I know he placed in Stud Dog as well)
1st in Herding Titled bitch and AWARD OF MERIT for Rime (Ch Wildair Winter Light HSAs)
SELECT BITCH for Lucy (BISS Ch Pawcific Dream Date) - and a note, this is the second year in a row that I have bred the Select Bitch at nationals, which I think is pretty cool!

Supported Show on Sunday
By this time I was so tired that I didn't keep track of placings in classes, but Vogue (GrCh Pawcific Strike A Pose) came away with an AWARD OF MERIT win.

A successful show, a successful national for the Pawcific crew, and most of all we can all say it's over!

~ Emily
PS Pictures will be coming soon. ;-)

Border Collie Puppies...and then there was two...

Just wanted to let everyone know that Amelia and Jett found homes. No more BC puppies to sell at this time.

So, now we are down to the two puppies we are growing up! Molly had a chance to come and visit last week. While she was here, Jenny got a chance to take a few fun pictures of her playing outside. When we dropped her off with Jeanette, Evan was in tears as he didn't understand why Molly couldn't stay! She has the best personality and I can't wait to spend more time with her!

Happy puppy!

"Who me?" Love her expression!

Dasher couldn't quite understand why she didn't know how to chase the ball as fast as he could yet. May take a few more months. LOL!

Vogue/Toby puppy girl available...

Amelia - Vogue/Toby puppy girl is available to a serious show and/or performance home. She has tons of spunk and personality plus. She could excel in any venue or make someone a good foundation or addition to a breeding program. Serious inquiries, please email me privately emluv2sing @ aol. com (no spaces). She is pictured below at 8 weeks. It was a hard decision between the two girls in this litter!

Vogue/Toby puppy girl

Here is the new addition to the Pawcific crew...this is Sky from the Vogue/Toby litter. One of the boys is the stand out of the litter but alas I have 4 intact males and cannot do any more...so I took this pretty girl instead! And now...I need help with naming her!! Her puppy name has been Sky and although I like the name not sure if I can do it as my beloved first dog of my own was Sky. So...theme wise we are kind of going off the Vogue, Strike a Pose, and looking for a runway or modeling type theme. Any suggestions??

Puppy photo shoot...

Nina was kind enough to come over and do a puppy photo shoot on the Vogue/Toby litter. It was tons of fun. Here is the group shot! Since Jeanette has had them at her house I am still not quite sure which girl is who...but left to right is girl, boy (Jett, who is available), girl, and boy (Rocket). Once I hear which girl is which, I will correct the post! :-)

Vogue/Toby puppy boy available...

We have decided to put one puppy boy from the Vogue/Toby litter up as available. He is a nice boy, has tons of personality, would make someone a great agility/obedience dog as he loves to please. We are interested in looking for a serious performance home for him. At this point he could easily be shown to his Championship. He is pictured at 5 weeks. Please go to my website and fill out a puppy questionnaire if you are interested.

Vogue puppies on the way!

Vogue is confirmed pregnant for puppies due the end of February! The litter will be whelped and raised at co-owner Jeanette's house in Salem, due to my overwhelming life right now. This seemed like the best time to do it all considering, so we are hoping for a wonderful litter. Unfortunately the ultrasound only found a few, so we are expecting a small litter, which means that most likely we have all puppies pre-sold. A big thank you to Stacy and Frank for making this litter possible! Here is the run down on the litter...

Vogue is GrCH CH Pawcific Strike A Pose. This past year was her first full year out as a special after finishing very quickly with several BOB's along the way. She gained her Grand CH in July with many majors in only a few weekends. Along the way she won several group placements, Select Bitch and Award of Merit at the BCCGLA specialty under breeder judge Kelly Whiteman, a strong BOB win under breeder judge Barbara Palmer in Dixon, CA, in 2009 she was Award of Merit at Eukanuba, and finally she finished off the year with Select Bitch at the BCSA Nationals under breeder judge Kathie Kinton. Throughout this year she was shown by breeder, owner, handler Emily Fish. I truly think this is a start to her career and we have many more things to come. She is OFA Good, CL and TNS clear by parentage, CEA dna tested clear. Her sire is GrCH CH Winpara Dragonfire (imp Aust) and her mother is CH Wildblue Silver Haze.

The proud sire to be is BISS CH Bayshore's Under My Spell, Toby. Toby's website page can be viewed at http://www.bayshorekennel.com/dog/biss-ch-bayshore-under-my-spell/ Toby is a known producer of top winning Border Collies. His offspring have also excelled in other venues. The topping of his career was winning Best of Breed at this year's nationals under breeder judge Kathie Kinton at the age of 10 years old from the Veteran class! What an accomplishment. He is hips Excellent, CL, TNS, and CEA clear by parentage. His sire is BIS BISS CH Borderfame Spellbound. His mother is CH Trumagik Toucho Class.

Here is the pedigree. Not all titles are put into my database, so apologize for not including them all.
