Portland brags...

As many of you know the biggest dog show in the area was this past weekend. It is known as the Rose City cluster in Portland, OR at the Expo center. In conformation alone there was over 3,000 dogs in attendance. For us it is one of the most tiring shows as there always seems to be LOTS going on that weekend. This year was most definitely in that category!

The Pawcific crew did have some success over the weekend. Thursday had the most highlights. Here are some brags and results:

Thursday - Molly was WB for 2 pts, Lucy Select to finish her Grand Champion! and in Michigan...Walker (my phalene) finished his Championship, thank you to Mary Jo for handling.

Friday - Lucy was Select, we also entered the Eukanuba Breeders Stakes in the evening with Vogue, Lucy, and Molly and won a Herding Group 3!!

Saturday - Vogue was Select

Sunday - Lucy was Select

All in all a fun weekend but a tiring one. Good bye Portland crazy show...until next year!

Results - Roseburg Weekend

Every now and again there is a show with a win that you cherish forever. In Roseburg I had one of those wins...my 7 month old Border Collie puppy Molly, Pawcific Cover Girl at Jollypaws not only did us well with picking up 3 more singles and winning the herding group brace with her mother, but also wowed us by winning Best Bred by in Show! This is the second time I have had the honor of winning Bred by in Show, the first time was with my Cardigan Lincoln. That kind of recognition amongst other long time breeders means more to me then most wins especially with such a young puppy competing with a lot of older dogs in Bred by. Thank you to my friends who stayed to cheer us on and other friends who went out and celebrated that evening!

Other wins from the weekend:
Vogue 2 BOB's and 2 BOS's
Dazzle WB, 1 pt
Secret 2 Select's
And across the country Walker won WD 3 days picking up 7 pts with one major! Thanks to his handler Mary Jo!

And even better:
Many of my handling students had great wins picking up points, Selects, Best Juniors, and much more! Go students!!

Border Collie Nationals 2011 - Way Out West

After some much needed rest, I think I can finally report on all our winnings of the 2011 BCSA National! So hear it goes...

As many of you know I was co-chair of the entire event. This is not an easy task to take on, especially being the first West coast national for Border Collies. Our committee spent 3 years plus planning for the 9 days jam packed full of events at nationals! All in all everything went smoothly. We sure had a lot of positive comments, which makes those countless hours and devotion to putting on the national much more worth it. Our volunteer shirts had a slogan on the back, "Best in the West Butt Kicking Border Collie Crew" and I sure thought this summed up our committee members!

Onto the results...

Herding - Sparky (Ch Red Ryder at Real Pearl HSAsd, etc.) won a 2nd and a 3rd in Intermediate A Course Sheep, completing his Int title! He also won a 2nd in Ducks and now needs one more Q for that title. Dawna took him to some great runs on tough stock! I was very proud of both of them!!
Unfortunately, none of our other dogs had a chance to prove themselves in herding, so we will look forward to the next local herding trial!

Agility - My grandpup Denali I heard did well in agility at nationals with several Q's. Kelly is sure doing an awesome job with this special boy!

Conformation - Jointly Pawcific South and North had some great wins this year. It's easier just to make a list. :-)
Puppy Sweepstakes
1st place in 6-9 puppy dog for Armani (Jollypaws Sharp Dressed Man)
1st place in 6-9 puppy bitch and BEST OPP IN PUPPY SWEEPS for Molly (Pawcific Cover Girl at Jollypaws)
Veteran Sweepstakes
1st place and BEST VETERAN IN SWEEPS for Morgan (GrCH Wildair Blazing To Morgan)
Regular Classes
1st place in 6-9 puppy dog for Armani
1st place in 6-9 puppy bitch for Molly
The puppies jointly won the Brace class. The only entry but they sure did look great together!
4th in Bred by bitch for Sacred (Pawcific Not On the First Date)
3rd in Am Bred for Dazzle (Pawcific I've Been Dazzled)
1st in Veteran bitch and BEST VETERAN for Morgan
3rd in Herding Titled Dog for Sparky (I know he placed in Stud Dog as well)
1st in Herding Titled bitch and AWARD OF MERIT for Rime (Ch Wildair Winter Light HSAs)
SELECT BITCH for Lucy (BISS Ch Pawcific Dream Date) - and a note, this is the second year in a row that I have bred the Select Bitch at nationals, which I think is pretty cool!

Supported Show on Sunday
By this time I was so tired that I didn't keep track of placings in classes, but Vogue (GrCh Pawcific Strike A Pose) came away with an AWARD OF MERIT win.

A successful show, a successful national for the Pawcific crew, and most of all we can all say it's over!

PS Pictures will be coming soon. ;-)

OKC 2011

After having a pretty long span of not going to any dog shows...we all packed up the trailer and went to the Olympic KC shows. It was great to have the trailer out again and everything went fairly smoothly (minus some minor electrical problems, but we made do). The dogs were excited to be back at the dog show again and we had some nice wins. Although I brought my camera and had every intention of getting updated photos of some of the youngsters (now more like teenagers/adults)...it just didn't happen. But, I can at least give you a winning photo...
Walker aka La Ren Moon Walker won Best Phalene at the PAPS specialty show on Friday. Since Walker is such a Mom's boy, my Mom has been working with him and showed him to the win. She did a beautiful job and beat some other nice phalenes. I do have to mention that this is his second year in a row of winning this award at the PAPS specialty. He is one gorgeous boy!

Other show news...Jenny showed Dasher (BC) in Rally and won 2 qualifying legs, she also showed Lucy (BC) to Select Bitch and BOB. Mom took Rocket (Papillon) in Rally at the specialty and won his class, then did Beginner Novice on Saturday and won 2nd place with a score of 198! Jeanette went with us and showed Landen (BC) to his first 2 qualifying legs in Rally and WD, BOW on Sunday, Taz (schipperke) had some great runs in agility, and the BC puppies had fun in the match on Friday! Oh yeah, and I managed to show Fraser (Cardi) to 2nd in group at the match, then he placed in Bred by, Edward (BC) was BOS, WD for 2 pts on Sat, and Splash was Select Dog and BOS.

Overall it was a fun show!!

2010 BCSA Nationals...

I just got back from the BCSA nationals at Purina Farms in Gray Summit, MO. I am happy to announce that Vogue, GCH CH Pawcific Strike A Pose, came home with Select Bitch at the nationals, thanks to breeder judge Kathie Kinton from England. I am honored to have shown Vogue to this fabulous win as a breeder, owner, handler. Thanks to her co-owner Jeanette for letting me campaign her this year, to my wonderful Mom and Sister who are currently on their way back home from driving the dogs back and forth to nationals, and most importantly to the people who helped make this litter happen. I am proud of breeding such a lovely bitch, who is only 3 years old and just at the start of her show career. This winter, Vogue will be bred for her first litter if all goes well. Jeanette has agreed to have the litter at her house. We are still debating who to breed her too.

On another note...my puppy Edward, Hilltop's Breaking Dawn came home with 4th in his big sweepstakes class. Jenny showed Morgan, her veteran bitch, to Best Veteran Bitch at the national. And also showed a relative of ours, GCH Bonnidune Autumn Thunder, Fury to first AOM at the Regional Specialty on Sunday. He is a grandpup of Haze, Vogue's mother. Congrats to his owners Kelly Whiteman and Carol Clark!

I love this puppy. He is just awesome. Although his brother is going to give him a run for his money when he calms down and behaves himself better. :-)

New Grand CH Vogue!!

We are down in Ventura, CA for the Summerfest cluster for the BCCGLA specialty and the PCA Regional, plus 3 days of all breed shows. Yesterday, Vogue won Select Bitch and an AOM at the BCCGLA specialty under breeder judge Kelly Whiteman. Today, she once again won Select Bitch to complete her Grand Champion title.

On other news so far this weekend...Walker was RWD at the PCA specialty! I was so proud of my phalene boy and he showed beautifully for me. We had several placings at the specialties including; Dazzle (papillon) won 2nd in Sweeps and 3rd in Regular classes in her 9-12 mth bitch class, Dasher won 3rd in Sweeps and 3rd in Bred by dog, Dazzle (BC) won 2nd in Bred by bitch, and both Morgan and Splash made it to the final cuts of BOB.

Today, Echo won WB, BOS for 2 pts. Dazzle (papillon) won 3rd in Sweeps and 1st in her 9-12 mth class.

A great weekend thus far!!!

First off, thank you thank you and thanks again to all those Cardigan people who cheered Secret on in the groups! Secondly, to all my clients for having such wonderful dogs. Thirdly, to my much needed handler help this weekend, Michon, who was the best! Lastly, to my sister who just did awesome.

Eukanuba here we come!!! and more...

Yup, I get to go. Until about 3 days ago, I thought I wasn't going to get to go. I love Eukanuba. It is so much fun, even if you don't do much winning. The World Challenge is by far my favorite, although I do have to say that the Breed booths take a very close second. It is all about making a statement, showing off your best, and having fun while you are at it. Taking home a prize, is just an honor.

On other news...as many of you saw on Carolyn's blog, I just brought Nola home from being bred to Pilot. Very excited about the litter! I always hit myself (well figuratively) when I see Pilot...why oh why did I not take him home at the puppy party...:-)

Was briefly at the Salem show on Saturday...showed Vogue for another BOB win. Then did the Pap fun match with Walker and Miley. Next weekend we have Monroe, praying for a warm weekend!!

Richland

I had a lot of fun judging this past weekend. (Did I mention I love judging!!) Unfortunately I had a bit of a head cold, so I wasn't feeling so swell, but I had a lovely entry and really enjoyed myself. Having an assignment in my area is always difficult as you know most of the dogs background. I really had to step back and judge on the day. I had several in there that just didn't want to cooperate as puppies go, so unfortunately didn't show themselves off like I have seen them do. Others, just shined and really deserved the wins on the day. Thank you to all for bringing me such a nice entry and to the club for allowing me to judge this year. It truly was fun!

On other weekend news...

Sat (my clients had to show their own dogs, but I still want to send a big congrats for stepping in when I couldn't be in the ring!)
Jazz RWD
Bugsie RWB

Sun
Jazz WD, 1 pt!
Walker RWD

I must get some sleep! And little Bamboo is getting obnoxious, so need to get away from this computer! (He is currently in my office room and demands you to pick him up every time you walk in here! Hmmm, spoiled puppy, maybe???) :-)

Ramblings for Wed...

The simple things in life are the one's to remember. Wednesday seems to be the day where I do a lot of thinking. How ironic, huh? This picture above seemed appropriate for today (of course a Michael photo). Enjoying the simple beauty through the fog...seeing the end of a long journey is hard and challenging...yet knowing there is a new one on the horizon is even more important. A lot of new things are coming to my horizon, a lot of things I am really excited about. Although today I was reminded of some not so distant past that still haunts me, but I move on and show the world the beauty of the small things. The simple things like getting a hug from Evan, Chai learning a new trick, playing with the cutest puppy in the world (Bamboo), or a phone call from Michael. All these things are what makes up me, things that I dwell on and look to the future with. So, that is my ramblings on things today.
And now, off my soap box and back to some updates...

Here is a beautiful picture of Denali's BOB win at our Supported Entry at OKC in Enumclaw this summer. Denali is out of my beloved Haze and my best bud Brayden. He is sure maturing to be a nice boy!

For those of you who sent Gaelic names...I ended up with Meckenzie, which means the daughter of the wise leader. Perfect match for a Brayden daughter! She will be joining my crew in early October!

Well...I better get back to packing for Richland. Feels a little odd not having any cardigans being shown, but I can't wait to judge sweeps! It will be fun!! Glad to see the weather is going to be beautiful this weekend. Safe travels to those going!
